Someone once asked me if the first 40 years of my life had passed quickly? I said “yes”. Then they said “take it from me, the next 40 will pass even more quickly”. They were right – where have they gone? Where did 2011 go?? It is also said that time flies when you are having fun…and I did have fun!
Anyway, I hope it is not too late to wish you all a Healthy and Happy New Year?
The past month or so has been spent relaxing, having had the pleasure of performing for many of you on the Soulicious Tour. I hope that those of you who have seen the concert/DVD and/or heard the CD enjoyed it as much as I did? Apologies to the overseas fans amongst you – I was not ignoring you, but the tour was set up in a shorter timescale to usual and my guest’s availability also had to be taken into account. Soulicioius was a true celebration of Soul and I certainly made some great friends along the way. My ‘soulmates’ Freda, James, Lamont, Percy, Jaki, Marilyn and Billy said it was their best tour ever… and they loved you!
I spent a very welcome few weeks in Barbados recharging batteries, seeing friends and relaxing; but also managed to perform at a “Carols by Candlelight” charity concert, which was a wonderful event with over 7,000 attending on the grounds of the Prime Minister’s Residence. I was also presented with the International Icon Award at the Barbados Music Awards in December – a great way to finish 2011!
I spent Christmas in New York and yes, I did make the gravy! New York is magical at Christmas and I loved it. Mind you, I love Christmas anywhere.
New Year was spent with friends in Paris, where it rained a lot, but certainly didn’t dampen our spirits!
This is a shorter Blog than usual – I am hoping to be able to update you a little more frequently by combining Facebook and the website Blog. If you cannot find an update here on the Blog, please follow this link to be able to view the latest comments/posts there too. I am trying to use technology to its full advantage – after all, with a little help, I can post video blogs to my Facebook page from time to time, which is not possible on the website Blog page. Hopefully I’ll get the hang of this in 2012 – it is a steep learning curve for me!
More anon……love Cliff
