BIG Concerts and Talk Radio 702 are thrilled to announce that UKs greatest rock & roll star and pop legend Sir Cliff Richard will be performing at Carnival Citys Big Top Arena, on Friday 2 March.
This additional performance kicks off his highly anticipated South African tour, which then sees him performing in Johannesburgs Coca-Cola Dome on Saturday 3 March 2007.
Going strong for more than 40 years Richard is one the greatest Rock & Roll and pop legend of all times.
With his backing group The Shadows, he dominated the British popular music scene in the late 1950s and early 1960s, before the advent of The Beatles. A conversion to Christianity and subsequent softening of his music led to his having more of a pop than rock image. Richard has remained a popular music, film and television personality in the UK and also retains a huge following in several other countries.
An accomplished singer with a genuine feel for the music, his first hit, "Move It" (1958) gave British teenagers their first taste of genuine homegrown Rock & Roll talent.
During the last six decades, Cliff Richard has charted many hit singles, and holds the record (along with Elvis Presley) as the only act to make the UK singles charts in all of its active decades ( 1950s 2000s). He has sold 250 million records over the course of his career. In the British charts alone, Richard has had more than 150 singles, albums and EPs make the top 20.
He remains an institution in Britain, where he is one of the nation's most popular all-around entertainers of all time.
Cliff s'est produit le 2 mars (vendredi) et hier samedi le 3 mars successivement à Carnival City et au Coca-Cola Dome à Johannesburg.
Dans l'émission (voir photos article précédent) qui lui a été consacrée à la radio TALK 702, les auditeurs et Cliff ont participé à un jeu "questions-réponses" dont je vous passe les détails. Les infos ci-dessus confirment bien, une fois de plus, que Cliff est LA STAR anglaise connue dans le monde entier. ON retrace ci-dessus, une fois encore, sa grande carrière.
Carnival City et sa BIG TOP ARENA sont réservées aux plus grandes stars mondiales. IL n'y a certes que 5000 places assises et Il fallait s'y prendre un an à l'avance pour y obtenir des places.
Samedi, de l'autre côté de la ville (City Roodepoort), un quartier moderne et vibrant, Cliff a connu un immense succès au Coca-Cola DOME (15.000 places). Les 6-7-8 prochains, il va donner trois concerts en plein air, toujours en A.S. Les gens se battent pour obtenir des tickets, là, on comptera par dizaines de milliers de spectateurs. Et bientôt, l'Europe: dont Paris et Bruxelles.
