"FANTASTIC EVENING"!

FANTASTIC EVENING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You said it all Joan.
As I sat there it dawned on me that I have been going to concerts for 20 years now - not an impressive record compared to some, but what is very, very, impressive is that Cliff is looking better and sounding better than when I first saw him.He looked fantastically young and his voice was better than ever over a wide range of numbers.
I too havent got a song list, but 'impressions and atmostphere' coming up especially for Netty who was unable to go because of ill health.
Firstly it was as if Cliff had been reading all our comments - what a variety of moods and numbers.
Yes there were a couple of 'oldies - but instead of the usual' Summer Holiday ' etc we were treated to 'Green Light' '-Rock n Roll Juvenile'  etc - and then there were the songs from SGO we missed before - lovely to hear Field of Love - and for life and Simplicity.and my biggest favourite 'I will not be a mistake. Sometimes Love and 1000 miles proved again to be stunning Nashville numbers.
The dancers were great - complimenting the numbers but not hiding Cliff from view - Dawn his new singer is a stunner to look at and vocally - I loved her and Cliff singing 'Anyone who had a heart'...she has an amazing voice.
Before I carry on a pause for breath to say that the set was spot on too - not too 'busy' like the eye from previous concert but beautiful and not distracting - two lit stairways then long segments of screens with some wonderful colours and effect illustrating the songs. I thought the band were fantastic, and the backing singers did a brilliant job on the duets, each one chosen to bring their own style to the numbers - I loved them all. especially 'Reunion'
Another thing that was spot on was the flow of numbers, and as for Cliff - in the first half the grey jacket and trousers and white and silver shirt hit just the right balance between causual yet 'dressy.'
I LOVE Cliffs longer hairstyle - very youthful and really suited him.
His outfit in the second half was stunning too - pale jeans with silver motive - and when he changed jackets it was great to see his arms in a short sleeved shirt - he has great arms - not seen them for ages!!!!!!!!
The Faithful One was as magical as ever -love John Clarks guitar... and how great to hear Peace in our time at the end - and remember the arm movement.
In the interval I saw Doug from Grimsby - and he thought it was the best since the Silver Concerts.
Fields of Gold was beautifully sung - it was the 'special song' for my late husband and I - and Cliff did us proud.
Such was the variety of songs that it was difficult to remember them all purely because there wasn't the standard pattern of numbers we are used to - the element of suprise was there throughout the  evening - a LOT of thought has gone into this show, and it paid off.
21st Century Christmas is up tempo and bouncy and I can see it catching on - its fun!
My friend who has never seen a Cliff concert before said it was 'stunning' and he will actually buy the d.v.d....RESULT!!!
Lovely to see so many friendly faces - Judy and Geri - Doug - all the girls from the front row - and friends old and new.
I'm not going tomorrow - bonfire night/dog - but can't wait for Tues Wed and Thursday - got front row then - as excited as I was all thse years ago, and I was so proud when Bryan raved on about the concert - it was sort of like when your child does well at school - dont laugh - but just could have burst with pride.
People on the train home to SEvenoaks were saying its a winner and they now want to go again.
A stunner of an evening - Cliff you are amazing!!

Did he talk much to the audience? and if so can anyone remember anything he said!!?  The concert sounds brilliant, fingers crossed he's saving some energy for downunder.

Sorry Mark, stage was quite plain, the band and BVs were on a higher level than Cliff and above them was panels with scenes projected on them in keeping with the various songs. There were wide steps going up each side.

On Cliff's level there was a backdrop of stars or something and a door in the middle opened up for Cliff to go through.

If I knew how to post a photo I would!!  I'm sure someone will,

Regards.........Joan

Hi Everyone

BRILLIANT!!  And I am a very hard to please person usually!!.

Will let others do the song list, but one of my favourites was the medley of album titles, ending with Rock and Roll Juvenile one of my favourites.

First half he wore very tight black trousers and a while sparkly shirt with a sort of white cumberband and a black jacket, no tie, he looked very smart and so slim!!

2nd half he wore blue jeans with sort of gold motifs on the thighs and a sort of leapardy type shirt with a crushed velvet dark jacket, then he changed the jacket for a silvery bomber jacket then changed back in to the first one I think!!

Someone else who knows about such things will probably correct me, not into fashion etc.

Surely he hasn't run out of jackets already? He was ably assisted by one of the dancers who received a kiss for her efforts.

Great songlist, great dancers, great backing vocals who each had their moment at the front with Cliff doing a duet.  Dawn Joseph was very good too, wonderful voice and good stage presence.

As for Cliff?  Words desert me he was MAGNIFICO!!

Waited in the cold to see him leave and managed to get a photo, the window was wound down and he waved at us.

Regards.........Joan

Have just floated home to my hotel on cloud nine.....absolutely in awe of Cliff's performance tonight at Wembley Arena......no idea what the whole set list was but others will fill it in. If I just say Simplicity, It'll Be Me, Fields of Gold, Wired For Sound, Ocean Deep, I Will Not Be A Mistake, What Car, My Kinda Life, Miss You Nights, When The Girl In Your Arms (yes in a swoon over that) Reunited, Faithful One, Move It, Peace In Our Time, Yesterday Once More....and best of all for me Cliff singing For Life,  ....which made the hair on the back of my neck stand on end...incredible song sung with spine tingling falsetto. When I think of the number of times Cliff kept saying when the album came out at first that he didn't know if he could do it live........well done that man. And that's just for starters.

For over two and half hours he gave us every style you could think of.....from rock n roll to Matt Monro to sultry ballads. And what a fantastic idea to have his backing singers take over as his duet partners. Now prepare yourself for the catchiest Christmas single you've ever heard....21st Century Christmas. I should think we'll be joining in the chorus by tomorrow night. Have been up since five thirty this morning so off to dream about how clever Cliff is......what a star and how he pulls off a concert like this at 66 is beyond me.....he's got more energy than the rest of us put together. Can't wait to hear what everybody else thinks....I'm star struck (again).

Sorry not very good at this sort of stuff, but just back from a surprise present from my husband.  Much rockier concert and lots more standing and dancing than the past few tours that I remember.  My husband said that the dancers were very attractive!

My head is all over the place at present, and our landlady has kindly let me borrow her PC for a short message.  The songs I remember are Miss You Nights, Anyone who had a heart, My Kinda Life, Every Face Tells a Story, I will not be a Mistake, 1000 miles to go.  Said I was hopeless at this sort of thing, especially with limited time on internet.  Song he ended with was Peace in our time.

Bonjour.
Bon dimanche.
