Still rocking: Cliff Richard is to embark on a series of shows at the Royal Albert Hall later this year
When Cliff Richard had his first hit in 1958, many doubted that rock'n'roll would still be around 52 years later, let alone the young singer himself.
But the teenage sensation - now Sir Cliff - lasted so well he has just announced a series of concerts to mark his 70th birthday.
He will take to the stage at the Royal Albert Hall performing for a gruelling six nights out of seven starting on Monday October 11.
His only night off will be on the Thursday - the day he reaches 70.
He is expected to perform hits from his 52-year career along with a selection of songs from his forthcoming album, Bold As Brass.
Demand for tickets costing as much as £70 has already been so high that organisers have restricted fans to a maximum of four per household.
The shows follow the star's solo 50th Anniversary tour in 2008 and his 36-date reunion tour with The Shadows last year.
Sir Cliff is also launching his own brand of sparkling wine to mark his landmark birthday.
The singer owns a vineyard in Portugal's Algarve region, where he already produces his own brand of wine called Vida Nova.
Sir Cliff has sold more than 250million records and is the only artist to have had a No 1 record in each of five decades from the 1950s to the 1990s.
Famous for his high-energy dancing, he has reassured fans he is fit to return to the stage, saying recently: 'I'm still driven. I never feel I've reached my peak.'
He puts his good health down to tennis, a daily dose of multi-vitamins and a high-protein diet.
